jeanne johansen: serenity
I originally named this piece the creator, until I saw Jon Neprud's piece in the show and changed the name. Serenity is what I feel about all creation, both as an artist and as an observer of the GREAT CREATOR -- whatever you wish to name Him, Her, It. Creation happens peacefully and is ever expanding.
Bio:
I've lived in many states and countries in my youth. My real art love started with oils as a 7th grader when I was forced to go to Summer School because I couldn't grasp Algebra and decided to take oil painting as well thus my life's moto: mix the good with the bad. I studied with the Juniors and Seniors and learned to mix colors and build my own canvases. Abstract was in vogue then.
I studies in art in Switzerland and worked in Paris for a summer before returning to the United States. I never live or visit a city, town, or country without checking out the art. Just looking at what someone else created is pure joy in me because I know they zoned out and touch the CREATOR even if I don't understand their connection. Like Algebra, I know it has some meaning for someone somewhere and it's up to me to find my own. I work in oil, watercolor and paint on silk. I experimented with acrylic in this piece.
I ran a consulting business in New Jersey doing publications for AT&T, General Electric, BASF, and several small publishing houses. I am a published author and the publisher of two books. I have consulted on numerous publications and books.
I live in Fort Pierce with my Nebraska- born husband, Buster, one tiny Italian Greyhound (Frodo), two cats, and three chicken. We have three children: Shawn in Palm Beach with granddaughter Sadie; Jeff in Seattle who is a Boris-ta; and traveling Megan who has yet to settle down .
