LISA JILL ALLISON: I AM
Lisa was born in Connecticut in 1959. As a child she loved art as well as nature. For as long as she can remember, Lisa studied the play of colors in nature. As a child she visited all of the U.S National Parks and this was the foundational inspiration of paintings of nature. Her inspiration for female form imagery comes from life experiences of seeing the innate resilience of the human spirit, even in the face of adversity.
Lisa studied from the late 1970’s through the early 1980’s at Central Connecticut University and then continued her studies at Florida International University, where she received most of her art training and earned her degree in Elementary Education.
Lisa's art expresses a deep connection with and appreciation for the subtle layers beneath the surface of nature’s innate beauty. Using predominately palette knife as her technique, she boldly applies colorful, joyous images that seem to kaleidoscope onto the canvas. In her art she creates a world where only beauty abounds..."a world of roses without thorns.” Her work is as refreshing as it is bold, allowing observers to travel to another place, perhaps to their own inner garden of tranquility.
Her work has been shown in galleries from Manhattan to Miami. She has authored several books designed for emotion healing. She was awarded a grant from Women Supporting the Arts in Stuart, Fl for the publishing of these books.
